Insurance and warranty implications of unpermitted sheds
A neighbor told me his insurance declined storm damage because the assessor found his shed had no permit and didn’t meet tie-down requirements. That scared me. Do insurers routinely check permits after a claim? If so, what paperwork should I keep on file to prove compliance—permit letter, engineer certificates, photos of footings? I’d rather be over-prepared than have a nasty surprise after a storm.
